AASOCV topbar

IAVA is a non-profit organization committed to promote Indian population in the state of Virginia (particularly Richmond) in terms of culture, socio-economic needs and other ethnic activities. IAVA is also committed to bring the feeling of home back from India to the people settled here in the United States. The association is run by local Indian residents who work harder day by day to make a success of this organization. Every year a new committee is selected through fair elections.

The committee makes an ongoing effort to work closely with various organizations representing multiple facets of the Indian Community in Richmond. The various ethnic groups of Indian culture like Hindus, Tamils, Gujratis, Telagus, Punjabis come together to form a multicultural organization.

This year we have many new and interesting goals for the community, such as....

  • Start a Community Emergency/Crisis Family Support Service - A service to insure support from the Indian Association to families within the Indian Community in case of an emergency or crisis situation.
  • Bring classical programs such as Pt. Hariprasad Chourasiya and encourage programs with local talent.
  • Start youth and adult volunteer programs, including teaching literacy classes to new arrivals from India.
We are seeking a lot of volunteers to implement these ideas. We are confident that with your support we will turn these ideas into a reality. We urge the whole community to take active part in all the programs.
