The Thai community in the metro Richmond is relatively small. Approximately 264 Thais live in Richmond and Petersburg area. According to the 2000 census, there are 5,436 Thais in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and 150,273 Thais live in the United States.

Currently, five Thai restaurants are located in the metro Richmond:
Thai Room, Thai Diner, Thai Diner Too, Thai Garden, Mom Siam on West Cary Street and Mom Siam on Forest Hill Avenue.
